Support Work

I have eight years of experience supporting vulnerable adults, and one year of experience supporting children.

At work and also at home, I have supported people with a variety of conditions and disabilities, such as:

  • Learning disabilities

  • Epilepsy

  • Autism

  • PICA

  • Dementia

  • Cerebral palsy

  • Parkinson's Disease

  • Angelman's syndrome

  • OCD

  • PTSD

  • Psychosis

  • Challenging behaviour

ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER Avenues Group - November 2020 to August 2021

Managing a team of sixteen to provide support for adults with learning disabilities. Involving:

  • Hosting team meetings and conducting staff supervisions

  • Creating the team rota by utilising HR Information System PeoplePlanner, ordering agency and calculating additional hours for the payroll department

  • Managing personal data to comply with data protection law

  • Communicating effectively with staff, the people we support and their families, senior operations managers and other professionals to provide excellent quality of care

  • Maintaining data spreadsheets on excel and conducting quality audits

 

Freelance - Aug 2011 to Jul 2015, and Nov 2019 - Mar 2020

Part-time carer for my grandmother Barbara, then my grandmother Janet who suffered from dementia and anxiety issues. This role involved many of the responsibilities mentioned previously, but also:

  • Providing essential emotional support

  • Providing my family with guidance and recommended the move to full-time care when necessary

Teaching assistant at Wimbledon Village School of Ballet - Nov 2015 to Jul 2016

I assisted with the baby ballet classes. This role included:

  • Setting up the studio

  • Ensuring safety and support for students

  • Communicating with parents regarding their child's progress

  • Helping to set up shows
